5 Reasons We’re Convinced Jeong Jin-Man is Still Alive

In A Shop for Killers Episode 5: Babylon, Bae Jeong-Min (Park Ji-Bin) reveals his dark secret to Jeong Ji-An (Kim Hye-Jun): he’s the one responsible for the death of her uncle, Jeong Jin-Man (Lee Dong-Wook).
The audience sees this in a couple of POVs: the first is a CCTV video captured by Brother (Lee Tae-Young) and on a camera worn by Jeong-Min. Although we see the altercation between the two, the CCTV video shows Jin-Man entering the bathroom and cuts out.
Meanwhile, Jeong-Min’s camera captures the same moment but also when he enters the bathroom and finds Jin-Man bleeding to death in the tub.
We can’t also discount the fact that in the first episode, Murthehelp, Ji-An identifies her uncle’s lifeless body in a morgue. This gives us the “idea” that he’s really dead. And somehow, the whole show has been a series of flashbacks with Jin-Man.
Still, it would be interesting if Jin-Man gave us all a big surprise and showed up at the end of the show. And with every episode, we’re getting closer to finding out the truth. Still, we can’t help but wonder is Jeong Jin-Man still alive in A Shop for Killers.
Here are some reasons we’re convinced he is:
It Doesn’t Add Up
Think about it: In Babylon, we learn that Jeong-Min is responsible for Jin-Man’s death after he simply listens to an audio recording of Ji-An asking for help. He’s supposed to be a really brilliant mercenary who’s a step ahead of everyone. Why would he fall to the tricks of a newbie who can’t even properly hide a secret camera?
Plus, Ji-An has been told several times to say “Jeong Jin-Man” three times whenever she needs her uncle. And in all of those times, Jin-Man never failed to show up. Jin-Man should have known better not to fall for a deepfake.
Also, it’s important to mention that Ji-An doesn’t call Jin-Man “Uncle.” This should be a clue that the recording he listened to was a deepfake.
It’s Not the First Time

This also isn’t the first time Jin-Man faked something. In Episode 3: The Strong Don’t Howl, Jin-Man brings Ji-An to the mountains to train her for something. He pretended to be sick so that Ji-An could go down the mountain by herself and conquer her fears.
When Ji-An touched her uncle’s forehead, he was hot. This led her to believe that Jin-Man had a fever so she went down the mountain alone. When she left, however, Jin-Man called someone and told him that the medicine worked well.
With this, we’re convinced that he could have faked his death– after all, the CCTV footage cut off when he slashed his neck.
Even Min-Hye is Convinced He’s Alive

In one of Ji-An’s conversations with So Min-Hye (Geum Hannah), Ji-An asks her what she did to Jeong-Min. Although she answers “Don’t worry, he’s not dead,” Min-Hye continues: “Think about it, Ji-An. Didn’t you find it strange? Shout Jeong Jin-Man at the sky three times.”
Even Bale is Alive!
Here’s another reason why we’re so intent on the idea that Jin-Man is alive: Bale (Jo Han-Sun).
Yes, the barbaric mercenary that Jin-Man seemed to take out in Episode 6: Jeong Jin-Man makes a “surprising” return towards the end of the episode.
Let’s get this straight. Bale survives multiple stab wounds, a gunshot wound to the eye, and an explosion yet we’re supposed to believe Jin-Man died by suicide?
When Jin-Man left him years ago, Bale seemed to succumb to his final stabbing. Jin-Man, determined to put an end to this monster, attempted to shoot him in the head several times. But lucky for Bale, Jin-Man’s gun ran out of bullets. Plus, Jin-Man and Min-Hye had to escape before the building exploded.
So if Bale survived all those things, it’s possible that Jin-Man could have staged his death.
It’s Lee Dong-Wook, come on.
