Do Da-Hae’s (Chun Woo-Hee) uncle, Noh Hyeong-Tae, may look like a thug but he’s far from one. He plays the ever-trusted henchman of Baek Il-Hong (Kim Keum-Soon), who would do various jobs for her.

When we first meet Hyeong-Tae, he follows Bok I-Na (Park So-Yi) around so Da-Hae can play the hero and prove that she’s trustworthy to the Bok family. But as time goes on, we see him showing sympathy for Da-Hae and the Bok family.

Not to mention, our hearts really melted when he helped Bok Gwi-Ju (Jang Ki-Yong) locate his daughter after an incident. He was able to detail I-Na’s favorite activities, which her own father failed to know about.

Here’s one of our favorite moments between Hyeong-Tae and I-Na.

Noh Hyeong-Tae from The Atypical Family is played by Choi Kwang-Rok, who also goes by the name, Roy. He’s a relatively new face in the Kdrama scene so not much is known about him.

But based on his AsianWiki profile, Kwang-Rok has starred in a few other Kdrama shows like Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun (2023), Hit the Spot (2022), and Green Mother’s Club (2022). It is also said that he has an uncredited role in Celebrity.

Since he is a new actor, not much is known about him yet. But we learned that he is currently 32 years old (July 1, 1991). After his exit from the military, he followed a friend and pursued modeling.

For his role in The Atypical Family, Roy had to gain 30kg to make his appearance as a thug believable. His agency, ESteem Entertainment released his statement regarding this:

“Putting on the weight was not the easiest after being cast in The Atypical Family. But I tried my best, grateful for the opportunity to portray a character like No Hyung Tae, too. Personally, I had a lot of fun shooting the show. So I hope the viewers also fall in love with the character and me acting behind the character.”
