If you haven’t watched Miss Night and Day episode 13, we suggest that you leave this article right now and just come back to it when you’re done catching up.

Let this serve as your spoiler alert.

What We Learned From Miss Night and Day Episode 13

In episode 11, the former Hospital Director, Baek Chul-Kyu (Jung Jae-Sung) kidnapped Lee Mi-Jin (Jung Eun-Ji) who was under the identity of Lim Sun (Lee Jung-Eun). Mi-Jin, along with Gye Ji-Ung (Choi Jin-Hyuk), suspected Director Baek as the killer in Miss Night and Day

But as it turns out, Director Baek was simply looking for answers about his wife. He recognized the name of Mi-Jin’s aunt, Lim Sun, who was previously his wife’s banker. After asking for help in locating his wife and handing his wife’s bank account to her, Sun suddenly disappeared. In his desperation, Director Baek did not stop looking for Sun.

So when Sun’s name and photo was published in the newspaper as among the seniors hired in the prosecutor’s district office, he knew he had to do something– even if it meant kidnapping her. Mi-Jin promised to help Director Baek solve the mystery so he could be cleared of the suspicions.

Towards the end of the episode, however, it was revealed that the cleaning lady was sending anonymous letters to Deputy Chief Cha Jae-Seong (Kim Kwang-Sik) to reveal that one of the seniors was hiding behind a false identity.

Since these letters were intercepted by Ko Won (Baek Seo-Hoo), Mr. Cha did not know what was going on.

Ko Won initially thought that the cleaning lady knew Mi-Jin’s double identity so he resorted to shredding these letters to protect her secret. But when Mi-Jin found out what Ko Won was doing, she decided to investigate further.

This led her to a random woman who said she was talking about another senior employee, Na Ok-Hui (Bae Hae-Sun).

4 Fan Theories on Na Ok-Hui’s Identity

We’re already looking forward to tonight’s episode, where we get to learn more about Ok-Hui’s character and whether she’s the killer in the show. But before Miss Night and Day episode 14 drops, let’s take a look at four different theories on Na Ok-Hui:

Fan Theory #1: Na Ok-Hui’s Real Identity

Before episode 13 ended, it was revealed by the mystery woman that Ok-Hui was not her real name. The cliffhanger ending left viewers wanting more, especially with her real identity.

One fan theory is that Ok-Hui’s real name is Gong Eun-Shim or Gong Gi-Cheol. These two names were previously pointed out by Tak Cheon-Hee (Moon Ye-Won) to Ji-Ung when she was taking a look at the names of those who purchased Fentanyl from Director Baek.

Cheon-Hee was curious about these two names since their details were similar but the purchases were made 20 years apart. Ji-Ung also pointed out that one of the names belonged to a man. Cheon-Hee corrected him and said that they were both female.

Fan Theory #2: She’s Also Cursed With a Body Swap

The same theory points out that the two names (Gong Eun-Shim and Gong Gi-Cheol) could mean that Ok-Hui could be under the same curse as Mi-Jin. During the day, she’s a senior lady volunteering at the district office.

At night, she transforms into the serial killer who’s been at large for over 20 years. If this is true, it could also explain why she still hasn’t been caught by the authorities.

But this also brings up a problem since Ok-Hui didn’t seem to have problems going out to team dinners, unlike Mi-Jin. But then again, we’ve never actually seen Ok-Hui at night even though she agrees to go on work dinners, unlike Lim Sun who refuses on the spot.

In episode 2, Ok-Hui decides to hurry off after seeing Lim Sun riding her bike away from their workplace instead of going to eat dinner with them. She also has an annoyed look on her face when Ko Na-Heun (Choi Beom-Ho) apologizes to her for being late. This is important since this is the last time Na-Heun was seen alive.

Also in episode 7, Ok-Hui was at the team dinner and karaoke since it was still early. But there was an incident where someone hurriedly left the restroom while Lim Sun was still inside. Could it be that she changed during at the gathering? Or maybe because she’s been under the curse for too long that her identity changes at random times?

In episode 2, there was a scene where an older lady was running for her life while an unknown person in a hooded raincoat was chasing her with an axe. It’s possible that the victim was the real Ok-Hui and the killer was the male Gong Eun-Shim or Gong Gi-Cheol.

Fan Theory #3: She’s Director Baek’s Wife

In the last episode, Director Baek was pondering Lim-Sun’s words inside his prison cell. Out of nowhere, he suddenly stood up to realize something related to the distinct odor that Lim Sun told him about.

This leads us to another important fan theory that Ok-Hui could be Director Baek’s missing wife. He might have remembered that his wife preferred a specific scent that most people did not enjoy.

If this is the case, it would explain why she has been extra friendly with the Director whenever he would talk to her.

Here’s a crazy fan theory that we can’t help but bring up even though it feels absurd. Some fans are speculating that the killer is actually Prosecutor Gye Ji-Ung’s missing mother.

This has become a fan theory since the murders started again when Ji-Ung decided to be assigned to their hometown. The theory is that if the killer is Ji-Ung’s mother, she’s killing again to make sure he’ll be the one to lock her up in jail.

Who is Na Ok-Hui in Miss Night and Day

While it still isn’t official, we called it in our previous article. We always suspected Ok-Hui as the killer since there was just something off about her character in the show. Putting Director Baek as the killer was the showrunners’ way of taking the viewers on a spin. He was simply a red herring in the show.

Before the big revelation in episode 14, we didn’t know much about Ok-Hui except that she was a grumpy senior who lightened up when speaking to Director Baek. But after episode 14, let’s take a look at who she really is.

In Miss Night and Day episode 14, Lim Sun asks Joo Byung-Duk (Yoon Byung-Hee) to run a background check on Ok-Hui. He discovers that Ok-Hui is Gong Eun-Shim, one of the names Cheon-Hee found on Director Baek’s list of Fentanyl customers.

After this discovery, Lim Sun also receives help from Director Baek in remembering the smell that she came across earlier in the show. When she learns of Mr. Joo’s discovery, she rushes to Ok-Hui’s locker and breaks it open. There, she discovers the same smell that came from some poppy flowers. It is also at this moment that she receives a call from her dad’s phone with Ok-Hui on the other end.

Meanwhile, Mi-Jin’s father, Lee Hak-Chan (Jung Suk-Yong), heads to a teahouse written by his friend. He was looking for a Kwak Geum-Hwa, a lady from the past who promised to help look for his sister-in-law. Unfortunately, this is probably one of the identities that Ok-Hui stole to pretend that she had a business.

A flashback scene in the midst of that revelation shows that Ok-Hui was behind the killings from 20 years ago. It turns out that she was doing house visits for beauty and sedative injections after taking nursing classes at night. Kang Gyeong-Hui, Director Baek’s wife, was one of her clients whom she sedated and killed with an axe. Ok-Hui stole her passbook and jewelry and tried to go to the bank to withdraw her money.

Unfortunately, Lim Sun (Baek So-Mi) remembered Director Baek’s plea for help and tried to call him. Sensing something was wrong, Ok-Hui left with the ID and passbook she presented. At night, she stalked Lim Sun and killed her. This was witnessed by Ji-Ung’s mom (Min Chae-Eun), who ran off and left behind a lighter with Royal Coffeehouse’s logo.

Ok-Hui got a job at the coffeehouse and got to kill Ji-Ung’s mom. After this, she quit her job and informed the coffeehouse owner. Before leaving, however, Mi-Jin’s father and his friend came by to look for Madame Kwak.

She tried to work at the Prosecutor’s Office to identify the identity of Lee Mi-Jin or Lim Mi-Jin but wasn’t accepted. This is why she killed the real Ok-Hui to steal her identity. In the process, Ko Na-Heun saw her, and she killed him too.

The scene then returns to the present, where Ok-Hui kidnaps Mi-Jin’s father and calls her to go to the location where they first met.

The episode confirms that Ok-Hui is the killer in Miss Night and Day, which is a breath of fresh air since we rarely see movies and shows about this trope. It can prove that women can be serial killers too!

Conclusion

We have plenty of questions about why she’s killing people and why she had the same grey car and the last four digits on Director Baek’s car plate. Also, how did Director Baek know the poppy scent that she carried around?

One theory we have is that she is a former nurse of Director Baek’s and they probably had an affair, which led her to kill his wife in the hopes that he would choose her. Since he didn’t, she could have continued stealing Fentanyl from the Director and supplying it to the gangsters.

But again, this is just our theory on what could happen next. We’ll update this article with developments, but for now, what are your thoughts on these four fan theories on Na Ok-Hui’s identity?
