Romance in the House is a melodrama Kdrama that follows the story of a single-parent household with two adult children. After several failed businesses, Byeon Moo-Jin (Ji Jin-Hee) is forced to divorce his wife, Geum Ae-Yeon (Kim Ji-Soo), and his kids. He fakes his own death and decides to rebuild his life in the hopes of winning his family back one day.
Years later, Ae-Yeon continues to struggle as a single mom. As an adult, Byeon Mi-Rae (Son Na-Eun) has become the breadwinner by working in the marketing department of a large grocery chain. Unfortunately, this also means she is overworking herself by sacrificing her health.
One day, Moo-Jin returns to his estranged family and introduces himself as the new owner of the apartment villa where they live. He hopes to win back his family but Mi-Rae is against his return.
She also finds romance in the unlikeliest places as she starts getting close to security guard Nam Tae-Pyung (Minho), who is secretly the son of the grocery chain both he and Mi-Rae work for.
