Avid fans of the Netflix Kdrama, Sweet Home, have been anticipating the show’s return for a second season. Apart from the return of Song Kang, fans were looking forward to Lee Do-Hyun‘s return as Lee Eun-Hyeok.

When Sweet Home season 2 was released on December 1, viewers hurriedly watched the whole eight episodes. Some even finished the entire season in one sitting just to know whether the actor would be reprising his role. After all, it was implied at the finale of the first season that Eun-Hyeok had died when the apartment complex collapsed. Not to mention, Netflix kept mum about the idea of Do-Hyun’s return.

So did Do-Hyun return in the second season? Not really… but now we know that his character is alive and will return in Sweet Home season 3.

Although Do-Hyun doesn’t star in the second season, the series gives us a glimpse of his return. The star emerges in a resurrection scene as Eun-Hyeok emerges in his human form from a cocoon.

The short clip doesn’t give too much information about his character so we’re still unsure what his return will mean for his sister, Lee Eun-Yu (played by Go Min-Si). Hopefully, he becomes a hero and not a monster.

Do-Hyun’s return doesn’t really shock us. For avid fans of the KDrama, we already expected that he would return towards the end of the series. After all, he plays an integral part in the webtoon, which the series was adapted from. What surprised us, however, was his resurrection scene.

To date, this might be Do-Hyun’s boldest scene. In the past, he has shown off his chiseled abs in 18 Again. But this resurrection scene in Sweet Home season 2… really takes the cake.

But here’s some bad news for you.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t count as his boldest scene. In an interview, Director Lee Eung-Bok says:

“The person in that nude scene was not Do-Hyun. It was a stunt double.”

The good news is that the director confirmed that Do-Hyun will return for the third season, which is expected to be released in Summer 2024.

In the meantime, we can look forward to Do-Hyun starring in the upcoming series, Death’s Game, which will air on TVING and Amazon Prime Video.
